As a Glen Ellyn native and Glenbard West graduate, Gina was active in the local community prior to leaving for Colorado. After meeting her husband in Colorado, Gina moved to Milwaukee where she obtained her Master’s Degree.
In 2008, Gina began her career in the Health & Human Services Department of Waukesha County, WI. In this role, she was introduced to several treatment settings where she worked to strengthen youth and families through community outreach and spending time doing child and adolescent therapy in the city of Milwaukee. For the past 6 years, Gina has been employed with Rogers Behavioral Health in Milwaukee, WI, and recently began work at the new Hinsdale facility. Here, Gina worked in child and adolescent hospital programs specializing in Anxiety, OCD, Depression, self-esteem, self-harm, adjustment disorders, and even emotional and behavioral problems.
Gina has experience using a variety of different therapeutic interventions and modalities, including: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Response Prevention, behavioral modification techniques and Psychodynamic. As a result, she understands the impact one family member’s mental health can have on the entire system. Gina has presented on such topics as Childhood Anxiety, Social Media Usage, Depression in Teens, and Common Roadblocks Families Face with communication.
Gina’s passion for working with families started at an early age with her own family. Growing up in a large – and blended – Italian family, Gina understands firsthand the dynamics, adjustments, and joys that can come from these relationships. Now a mother of two, Gina and her husband are raising their family in Glen Ellyn, and slowly rejoining the community she was once a part of. You are likely to spot her in town with her husband, Michael, and two children, Sadie and Joey.
I want clients to know how much I value authenticity. I am a firm believer in practicing mindfulness and gratitude, and I believe strong therapeutic relationships should be authentic in nature. For my clients, I strive to create a space that is safe, natural, and encouraging, and always promote an environment where clients can grow, share, and reset.
Whether someone is considering a therapeutic relationship for themselves, their child, or their family, I am sensitive to this process, and hope to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
I am particularly passionate about working with family systems. When working with families I consider several things, such as the world in which we compare ourselves to, the individual’s struggle with self, the demands placed by society, and the challenges a family system faces. These challenges may include: divorce, death, job loss, substance abuse, sexual abuse, or coping with a family member’s mental illness. I believe we are doing our best and can often become exhausted by the demands of life. I am also a mother and know all too well that finding 15 minutes, let alone 1 hour, can be nearly impossible. With that being said, I believe that taking the time you need will allow time for perspective, breath, and assurance.
